The internal fight

Sep 27, 2019
Today is the first day of my new life and I'll share why in a future post but before I do, consider this.

I've earlier shared with you that four years ago I left my family, friends and all which was familiar to me behind and moved to Sweden.

I would have never thought I will be where I am today. Not in my wildest dreams. That seemed soo impossible for me back then. But as my mentor and associate, John C. Maxwell says, 'Everything worthwhile is uphill' and as we all know, growth happens only outside of our comfort zone.

I had a calling and I couldn't just ignore it and go on with my life.

We have inside of us two energies that are fighting against each other. One who's invested in maintaining the status quo and another one who comes from our highest calling and pulls us towards our goals and dreams. To which one do you choose to listen to?

Do you choose to listen to the one who says you are not enough or you do not have enough to follow your dreams? You know, this voice of doubt that stops you from taking steps in the direction you know you'll want to go.

Imagine you play with two polarized magnets which are rejecting each other if you try to put them closer with the same pole. Each is very powerful, but they each have a different kind of north pole, and as soon as you try to move them closer, they reject each other and pull in different directions.

The north star your conservative comfort-seeking energy is pulling you towards is not a place where you grow and develop. This energy is invested in your safety and comfort. It will not be the place where you'll be stretched to try new things, travel to new places, implement new business ideas. This energy wants you to feel comfortable, and as soon as you step out of that zone of knowing, you'll be uncomfortable. Chances are you'll have to do things you haven't done before, travel to places you haven't been before, speak to people you haven't speak before, and all that's uncomfortable.

I think what keeps us from doing what it is that we want to do is the fear of rejection.

I know that to be true for me. There is no rejection in being employed.

There is no rejection in sharing your ideas with your friends and family. There is no rejection in doing what everybody else's doing. There is no rejection in building a website. But there is rejection in getting out of the house and asking people to buy into your idea. There is rejection in asking people to bet on you. There is undoubtedly rejection in asking people to purchase your service.

And this energy inside of you fights for your attention and draws you towards its north star.

Now, there is in all of us this second type of energy that we can associate to the second magnet. One energy which seeks expansion; a driving force that seeks expression. This energy that knows what we really really want, your real North Star.

This part of us that is not satisfied with what we do, what we have, and who we are. And you know why? Because this driving energy knows with 100% certainty that we are capable of much more than what we're currently doing. This part of us knows with absolute certainty that we have potential within us that we are yet to express and keeping things the way they are is against our nature.

Ask a person in their 80's what they regret most in life, and you'll not hear about things they've tried and didn't work out the way they expected. What they'll tell you are all the things they haven't dare to try.

As we step into this weekend, and as you take a few moments alone to reflect, consider this.

How could you listen more to the expansive energy inside of you?

What does it tell you?

And as you do that, what is the first step you should take in that direction?

Comment below and share that with me, and I promise I will get back to you personally to help you move in that direction.

I look forward to reading from you.

Wish you a great weekend!

Warmly,
Florin
